How to: Configure Push email on the Nokia 5800 – Email on 3 Alternative
3mobile Australia have recently launched Email on 3, a branded Push Email service that works on a range of handsets and allows the user to automaticlly receive email from their Gmail, Yahoo or MSN Email accounts.
Unfortunatly for Nokia 5800 users Three have not yet released Email on 3 for this touch enabled handset.
Luckilly there is an alternative.
Email on 3 is actually a branded version of System Seven.
System Seven actually run a Beta program within which users can download and run the most up to date beta versions of the Seven Push Email client.
The latest beta version of System Seven is compatible with the Nokia 5800 and I can say from personal experiance that it works brilliantly.
There is even a very active support forum to answer any and all configuration and installation issues.
The only problem with this alternative solution to Email on 3 is that you are unable to take advantage of the unlimited email package offered by Three.
Instead you will be charged for mobile internet use as per your mobile internet package.
I am on the x-series 8 package and have never used my 100mb allowance nor have i been charged any more than $5 for roaming costs.
