System SEVEN sync gmail contacts & calendarDuring the reconfiguration of my wife’s E71 I noticed something great.

System SEVEN version 7 Beta Program Update Release Notes
Release Date: January 26, 2009
Server build: 314335 (version 7.3)

NEW FEATURES

Added functionality for Gmail/Google Apps accounts
This release includes support for contacts sync on Google Apps accounts and for calendar sync on all Gmail/Google Apps accounts. This also includes googlemail.com (Gmail UK). Additionally, deleting messages in a Gmail/Google Apps account on your phone now results in the message appearing in the Trash in the Gmail web interface instead of in All Mail, and folder sync (”labels” in Gmail) is now supported.

Local SMTP server
This release includes support for a local SMTP server to handle cases where a user’s regular SMTP server is temporarily unavailable or is incompatible with the SEVEN service for some reason. The intention of this new feature is to eliminate the 3100 error during the process of registering Other POP/Other IMAP accounts and the problem of an unknown error resulting in sent mail being moved to Drafts. NOTE: This feature has not yet been enabled for the beta program; a separate announcement will be made when it is enabled.

KNOWN ISSUES

Some of the known issues listed in previous release notes are still open. Please refer to the lists of open bugs and open feature requests in the Announcements forum for the latest information.
