How To: Use your N95 as a bluetooth modem on a Mac
Posted on April 8th, 2008 | by decoder |For some reason Nokia have not developed a Mac version of their PC Suite software.
Due to this you are unable to easilly connect and configure your Mac to use your Nokia handset as a Bluetooth modem. This tutorial hopes to remedy that.
Now unfortunatly I not a Mac user so I am unable to verify that this how to is 100% accurate however I take it on good authority.
- Go to “Ross Barkman’s Home page” and download the Nokia 3G scripts for UMTS & EDGE
- Copy the 3 CID files into Library/Modem Scripts in Finder
- Use the “Setup Bluetooth device” wizard to connect your Nokia N95 to your Mac. Make sure to tick the box with “Access the Internet with your phone’s data connection”.
- In the last step, enter the following details (These details are specific for 3mobile Australia. For other countries + operators, please check this list)
Phone vendor: Nokia
Phone Model: GPRS (GSM/3G)
Username: leave this blank
Password: leave this blank
APN: 3services
CID: 1
5. Click “continue” and finalize the wizard.
Connect Bluetooth. Once connected select “connect Bluetooth” in the Mac Modem Preferences and it should automaticlly connect via the handsets Bluetooth connection.
Surf’s up!

I found this http://europe.nokia.com/A4366276 , at the bottom of the webpage are some instructions on using Nokia phones as a modem. The screenshots are a bit outdated with OS X (10.5.3), but its working with the settings mentioned in the article, without using Ross Barkman’s scripts. The only thing I did differently is to leave the “Telephone Number” blank.
I noticed that the connection speed is slower than when I connect through PC Suite on XP, but I’m not sure whether it’s due to my phone reception or the generic scripts used by Mac.
