How To: FIX Nokia S60 3rd Edition “File Corrupted” error when installing applications

Posted on February 28th, 2008 | by decoder |

For the last week I have been plagued with a very frustrating problem.
EVERY time I attempted to install a new S60 3rd edition application on my (sadly not an 8GB) I would receive a “” error which would prevent me from installing the application.

Now I KNEW that the problem wasn’t within the app itself as I did a test with the latest Beta 2 of the Nokia Location Tagger and it too was apparently corrupt.

After an exhaustive Google search I couldn’t find anything but people requesting help with the same problem but no solutions! ARGH!

Finally I found a forum post over at the Nokia Discussion Board which advised to do a hard reset of the handset using a key combination.

The downside to this however is that it wipes EVERYTHING from the handset and you are left with default factory settings. No contacts, No messages, No apps, Not even the correct time!

But it had to be done.

So how do you do a “Hard Reset” on your Nokia device?

From the standby screen simply type:

*#7370#

You will be asked if you REALLY want to do this and upon hitting “Yes” your handset will reset and you are back to square one.

It does however fix the problem! After performing the hard reset i was able to successfully able to successfully install the previously Nokia Location Tagger Beta 2.

Yay!

On the up side it gives me a chance to start afresh, just like a Windows Reformat!
