Nokia User Survey
Just before christmas 2007 I received an email from Nokia. First I thought it was a spam/phishing email but on reading ti a little closer to appeared to be legit.
Nokia wanted my help (chuffed) to learn more about users mobile phone users habits.
In exchange for my assistance they offered a swag of free mobile software. How could I refuse?
The user survey took the form of occasional online surveys but the interesting part was that they required me to install a small app on my handset that would monitor my usage and report back to nokia on a regular basis.
Now as anyone who has read my blog before can attest I am not one to worry about handing over my personal usage habits to a 3rd party (read Google owns me), so I installed the software. easy.
The survey lasted for about 2 - 3 months, with occasional online surveys and regular uploads to the Nokia servers. I was actually surprised that each log upload was only on average, about 4KB. Over the life of the survey the data usage of the monitoring app was only about 60KB from memory.
Finally this week I received another email thanking me for my assistance and offering me some great freebies!
The thankyou pack included:
Apps
Psiloc Font Magnifier
Psiloc GSync
Psiloc Phone Guard
Psiloc Photo Tagger
Psiloc Redium Theme
Games
Mini Golf Magic 3D
Crazy Penguin Catapult
DChoc Cafe Solitaire 12 Pack
Pyramid Bloxx
Brick Breaker Revolution
So far I have only tried a couple of these apps which I will attempt to review over the next few days.
I would just like to say, thankyou Nokia, feel free to ask again!
Has anyone else participated in this Nokia User Survey?
