My Top 5 S60v3 Apps for my N95

Just like everyone has their favourite computer configuration we also have our optimal mobile phone configuration. This config puts our most commonly used functions within easy reach and personalises our phone with our favourite tunes and backgrounds.

Here are my favourite applications that I have installed on my Nokia N95.

Conversation - this brilliant little app integrates with the contacts menu and lists all of your SMS’s by sender. By selecting a contact from within you can view all messages sent to and received from that contact. Very handy. The only thing that could make this app better would be for it to completely replace the SMS received dialogue and reply screens.

Fring - Is one of many IM applications for the mobile. It allows you to connect to Google Talk, MSN, ICQ, Skype and SIP from a single interface. It is very fast, easy to use and free!

Google Maps for Mobile - Now with native S60 & support this little app brings the power of Google Maps and to the mobile. Improvements? Well it woudl be great if it rotated the map to suit the direction you are heading. Even better if it had voice directions. Hopefully these will come in future releases.

Shozu - Is software as discussed in a previous post. With direct integration into Flickr it works well. As I am a user and at present Picasa cannot read the GEO Tag’s generated by I am simply using this software as an uploaded to my account.

Locr - This handy little app does what I want to do when it comes to and that is embeding the GEO Location data within the image meta data. Picasa reads the GEO Data without fail. Now if only it integrated with 3rd party image galleries it would be perfect.

I know some people will wonder why I have not included Opera Mini in this list. Well mainly because when I access my Gmail (as i do on my mobile countless times a day), I could never get it to recognise that I was using a mobile device thus display the mobile gmail interface.

A great resource for free S60 software is S60 3rd Freeware.

  1. Hey there,
Thanks for including ShoZu in your top 5! Just FYI, Flickr was the first of our integrations to offer a rich GPS experience which is why we have so many more Flickr-related features at the moment. But stay tuned, tons more integration work is being done at the moment to broaden our features with more partners, including Picasa.

    Best,
    Jambo (ShoZu)
