Installing Opera Mini web browser on Nokia 6288
I recently received a new Nokia 6288 on the Three network here in Australia.
I love this phone and am happy to report that it is a vast improvement over the previous version the Nokia 6280.
The only problem i have with the phone is its web browser. Typically mobile phone web browsers are very basic and have difficulty rendering pages that are not specifically designed and developed for the mobile space.
This is where Opera Mini comes in. Opera have developed a fully featured web browser specifically for mobile devices. It can support RSS feeds, bookmarks, history, and will even render websites not specifically optimized for mobile devices, and does a good job of it too.
Installation is very simple.
1. Press the Menu button on your handset and navigate to the “web” button
2. Navigate to the “Go to address” button and hit select
3. Enter the following address: mini.opera.com
4. Select the download link displayed
5. When prompted accept the installation of the browser
Accessing Opera Mini once installed
1. Press the Menu button and navigate to the “Apps” button
2. Navigate to the “Collection” button
3. Navigate to the Opera Mini button and hit select.
4. Accept the prompt to allow “Internet Access”
5. Surf away!
Thats it! Its very simple and once you have it you wont be able to stop using it!
